Thoughts: Empire of Dirt!

Night goes off, he sleeps in fear

Daylight breaks; the time is here.

The alarm goes off, snooze isn’t a choice,

The reason to wake up does not have a voice

He question the choices, the ones he made

The ones he makes and the ones yet to take.

The Empire of Dirt builds!

The choices he made, weight heavy on him now,

The pressure is intense, he might cripple, he might bow.

Most made to see if they felt right,

In the spur of the moment, his goal was in sight.

Throw caution to the wind, to the flying grains of sand,

The dust settled and he looked around the land,

Alas! It remains the same around.

There are no ropes, but he feels vaguely bound.

He jumps again, into the eye of the storm,

To power through, his look forlorn.

Step by step, he digs his heels,

He lists, he rolls, he evens his keel.

Sweat drips of his brow, patches of it all over now,

Just as quickly, its all over..and how!

Its pitch quiet, there is no tell,

All he hears is the chime of the distant bell.

Dejected, demoralized, unhappy to say the least,

He kicks up the dust,

He lost the battle, his war weapons lie in rust.

“Life is long enough though… to try out.

Resigning yourself doesn’t help, at least not without a bout.”

And then he blink s….

N I stand alone, in my empire of dirt,

I could have it all; I just gave it up,

My throne of thorns, my sweetest life.

My empire of dirt!

and so the empire of dirt is built… 🙂 nice. really like stanza two, esp. “There are no ropes, but he feels vaguely bound.” nevertheless, you know me. i love happy endings. forgive the plagiarism but i can’t resist – “Alas, I say! It remains the same around. Will we ever get to read a cheery sound?” … 😛
