Thoughts: Kung fu Panda is too cute!

If the movie got any cuter I will buy a Panda and train it to do Kung Fu!!

Kung Fu Panda has a little something for everyone and that is what makes this movie one not to miss. A cute big clumsy guy, colorful and powerful, fighting for the right side and well…really clumsy gets beat throughout the movie but when the chips are down, rises through the ashes and saves the day. Sort of like an Adam Sandler movie only with a better cast and more meaningful dialogues. Although to his credit Jack Black does fit the bill pretty well.

The movie follows from the first edition and Po is now the full-fledged Dragon Warrior (Lord Shifu though still has a tough time accepting the fact). This time though the Great Po has to deal with the fact that he is in-fact adopted!! (Say WHAAT!) and thus on his quest to find out what happened to his real parents runs into Lord Shen (Gary Oldman) who is hell bent on destroying Kung Fu…much like Steven Segal does when he acts!

Lord Shen has found the perfect weapon to rule the world and plans to use it to do pretty much the same. Shifu sends out Po who then teams up with the usual suspects aka the Furious Five consisting of the no-nonsense, powerful punching, butt kicking Tigress (Angelina Jolie), the wiseacre Mantis (Seth Rogen), the subdued Crane (David Cross), the cute Viper (Lucy Liu) and the underused Monkey (Jackie Chan) along with guidance from the really funny Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman). Add to it more Kung Fu heroes, the usual funny one liners and baby Po who is oh-so-cute, Kung Fu Panda II makes for one fun movie.

The movie is loosely based around the time gun powder was invented and this is vaguely around what the movie is based. Kung-Fu versus Guns. And in an action packed 90 minutes it was possible to just gasp in amazement how much of the movie has been actually shown to us. Fact remains people that with a cast like this you really can’t miss. The who’s who in the industry and a great director who really has pretty much got her finger into each and every movie we loved (Jonny quest, Spawn, Madagascar) this movie is the stepping stone for a great franchise.

I thank the crew and the cast for not spoiling (as is usually the case with sequels) what is obviously one of the best movies to come out this year so far. Take a bow guys!
