Despicable Me is a must See!

Could a movie be more adorable? I think not! The movie is too damn cute.

“It’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!”

The movie is filled with really and I mean really likeable characters, right from the hero/bad guy Gru, his partner in crime Dr. Nefario and his thrill-a-minute scooter, his band of brothers aka “the minions” and the three adorable kids Margo, Edith and Agnes (Note: they have all been given a really aged name; adds to the humor)

It is silly! … But in an off-beat way. The movie is simple enough, a wannabe bad guy (Gru) plans to have the heist of a lifetime by (drum roll…..) STEALING THE MOON!! (Hey! It’s an animated movie and it’s allowed….back off)

Enter three little girls, who sell door to door cookies. Gru plans to use the three girls to enter the fortress (and oh boy I mean fortress) of Vector (bad guy aka arch nemesis of Gru) so that he can steal the “shrink ray gun” (so that he can shrink the moon…duh!!) Vector fyi is a geeky, nerdy villain and is also the son of the Bank of Evil owner aka Lehman Bros.

(Disclaimer: It says so in the movie and is in no way a swipe at the bank)

What ensues is a brilliantly made movie showcasing a the most heart warming tale of three girls looking for acceptance, looking for a father figure and a bad guy who suffered from attention deficiency.

Scene:

Gru: Someday, I’m going to go to the moon.

Gru’s Mom: I’m afraid you’re too late, Gru. NASA is no longer sending up the monkeys

Ouch! You have got to feel bad for the guy after that one.

But on the whole, the movie is brilliantly made. It has a certain gift of finding the soft spot inside you and tickling it. The humor is subtle and funny enough and the movie has a constant flow to it. At no point in time would you ever feel that’s boring, slow, monotonous etc. It maintains a constant pace throughout and is definitely worth the money you pay for your tickets along with a tub of popcorn and soda.

My recommendation, watch it and let allow yourself to be entertained.
